City Program
In 2026, we will organize events together that retell parts of Maastricht’s history in a creative and innovative way. Throughout the year, we aim to host events in the city that bring historical figures, moments, or events back to life.
Do you have a great idea? Is there a person, moment, or event from history that you would like to revive in an accessible way? Then organize a surprising project together with others! Any organisation can submit an idea, as long as the historical story and collaboration are at the heart of it.
Several ideas have already been submitted that are still looking for support. Do you have an idea yourself? Here you can also find various organisations that may be able to support your idea.
Funding of up to €40,000 is available for the projects. See the conditions here:
We recommend sharing your plans with us in advance via info@maastrichtjaar2026.nl so that we can explore the best possibilities together.
Rules for Participation
Your project must meet a few rules. These help us make the Maastricht Year strong and special together.
1
Your organization is based in Maastricht.
2
It focuses on a historical moment, person, or story. You van give it your own fresh and original twist.
3
You collaborate with at least one unexpected partner, also from Maastricht.
4
Collaboration happens during both preparation and execution.
5
Connecting people is at the heart of it, the more the better.
6
The project is free and accessible to everyone.
7
It takes place somewhere in Maastricht in 2026.
8
A series of activities is allowed.
9
The subsidy is only a reimbursement of costs, not for profit.
10
Professionals may also participate, as long as they follow the rules.
